Cecil Estes, 76, of Palatka, passed from this life on Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home following an extended illness. A native of Millers Creek, Kentucky, Cecil resided in Palatka since 1978 coming from Winchester, Kentucky. Hel attended the University of Kentucky and was an avid Wildcat fan. Cecil worked 35 years with Bell South Telephone Company, retiring as assistant manager of construction. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, a 50-yr Mason and member of Pineland Lodge #86 F&AM and a member of College Road Church of Christ. In his leisure time, Cecil enjoyed model building and working on cars.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucille P. Estes of Palatka, 2 sons, Brian Cecil Estes of Palatka and Christopher Jason Estes and wife Tracy of Newark, DE, 2 brothers, Jesse Estes and wife Clara and David Estes and wife Barbara, all of Winchester, KY, 2 nieces, Dana Stanfield and husband Billy and Sue Johnson and husband Larry, all of Winchester, KY and a nephew, Richard Estes also of Winchester, KY.
Services celebrating Cecil’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. C.L. Overturf, Jr. officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Westview Cemetery in Palatka. The family received friends on Monday from 5-7 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
