God’s Tour Guide? As I watched today’s ceremony, I couldn’t help but think of my own “Ronny story”: On one of my first meetings with him I engaged his services to represent me. The case ended up being heard in an “adjoining” county. As we walked thru the courthouse it seemed as if he knew everyone in the place! The assistant clerk, the assistant clerk’s assistant, security guards, baliffs, PSAs on and on and on. I don’t know if he actually knew them or not but THEY SEEMED TO THINK HE DID! It was like walking thru Hollywood with a “real” Star! My mind however, was on the case only and I was thinking “Crud, am I going to have to pay his hourly rate for him to talk to EVERYONE in the courthouse??” Well, I soon realized that even if he did charge me for it, I had hired the right guy. Before the proceedings began, the Judge asked him to approach sidebar and ONLY him (which I had never seen in a courtroom in 10 years of witnessing hearings). When he returned, he had that “Ronny smile” and I asked what that was all about. Ronny whispered “The Judge wanted to thank me, he had asked me to see if I could get his daughter admitted to a certain State University and he wanted to say that he “didn’t expect me to pay for it” and appreciated me getting her a FULL-RIDE athletic scholarship instead!” Let it be said Ronny earned every penny winning that case! I can’t think of anyone else I’ve known personally or professionally like him, I imagine when it’s my turn I’m going to have to meet everyone else in heaven because he will know everyone there also!
