Frances Darlene Bailey
Frances Darlene Bailey, 66, of Hollister, became absent from the body and in the presence of the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. A native of St. Augustine, Darlene was a 1969 graduate of Paxon High School in Jacksonville and resided in Putnam County since 1981 coming from Jacksonville. Darlene was a licensed practical nurse for 36 years, having worked at Memorial Hospital and Jacksonville General Hospital, Putnam Community Medical Center, with Dr. Craig Raby, Family Medical, Upjohn as well as Palatka Health Care Center and several other home health providers in the area. She was an active member of First Assembly of God in Palatka. She was a Sunday school teacher and choir member at various other church families throughout her life. Darlene was very intelligent and enjoyed puzzles and things that challenged her mind. She will always be remembered as “generous to a fault “and how her home was always open to anyone needing assistance or encouragement in difficult times.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Highsmith and Vonda Vincent and a brother, Cody Highsmith.
Darlene is survived by her husband of 46 years, Alexander P. “A.P.” Bailey of Hollister, 3 daughters, Desiree “Cherie” Evans (Leland) of Hollister, Alexandria F. Grennan (Jason) of Palatka and Rebecca Anne Grennan (Jeremy) of Manchester, CT, 2 sons, Gabriel Alexander Bailey of Hollister and Derek Cribbs (Kimberly) of St. Augustine, 2 sisters, Georgeann Highsmith of Camden, TN and Donna Pate of Jacksonville, 3 brothers, Bobby Highsmith of Jacksonville, Joseph Highsmith (Debbie) of Edgewater and Daniel Highsmith of Virginia Bch, VA, 10 Grandchildren, Ellianna Evans, Elizabeth Evans, Elijah Grennan, Violet Grennan, Lily Grennan, Jude Grennan, Hannah Cribbs, Samuel Cribbs, Michael Cribbs and Charlie Cribbs and expecting twin grandchildren soon.
