Julia S. Carroll, 92, of Crescent City, formerly of Palatka, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Lakewood Nursing Center in Crescent City following an extended illness. She was a native of Babson Park, FL and had lived in Putnam County since 1941. She retired from Central States Paper Co. as a bag inspector after 36 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, shelling peas, singing and dancing, and cooking and baking. Some of Julia’s favorite dishes to prepare were oyster stew, chicken and dumplins and fried fish. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, William Luke and Luther Carroll, parents, James and Mary Spivey, brother, Joseph Spivey, sisters, Nora B. Smith, Rosa Johnson, Elizabeth Spivey and Vera Burnes.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn E. Luke (Mary) of Nashville, GA, William Luke (Tonya) of Palatka, and Darrell Luke of Palatka, grandsons, David Luke, C.J. Luke and granddaughter, Suzanne D. Luke all of Palatka.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services on Friday.
