Obituary for Ada Green

Ada Ray Green was born in 1960 in Palatka, Florida to Lewis and Tinker Green. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2018 after an extended illness.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lewis Green; grandparents, Perry and Maude Mills, and Uncle SJ Mills.
Ada Ray is survived by her mother, Tinker Green; sister, Kelly Wilkinson; half-sister, Dianne Wellington; Niece, Laney Wilkinson; Nephew, Colton Wilkinson, special Godson, Bradley Southwell; aunt, Helen Mills; many cousins, special nieces, Natalie Coulter and Cricket Cribbs; extended family Jerry and Toby Bedenbaugh & family, and special friend, Theresa Thomas, who donated a kidney to Ada Ray which allowed her to enjoy fourteen more years of life.
She is also survived by special caregivers, whom she truly loved: her Aunt Helen Mills, Ginny Burnsed, Elaine Vaughn, June Griffis and Dawn Griffis.
Ada Ray was a 1978 graduate of Briarwood School. She worked after graduation with Bellsouth as a telephone operator until 1985, at which time she was unable to continue working due to her illness.
Although Ada Ray fought a battle with Lupus for most of her life, she treasured each day, counted her blessings and never complained. Countless lives were touched by her positive attitude.
Her love for Christ was reflected in the kindness with which she treated everyone she met. Her joy was working with the Children’s Ministry at Francis Baptist Church where she was a Children’s Sunday School Teacher for over 25 years. She also worked with Awanas. She enjoyed also helping with the children’s Christmas plays, Vacation Bible School and camps during the summer. Ada Ray was also known for her compassion and the care she gave on occasion to wounded or abandoned animals.
Those who knew her will miss her but are given peace and assurance that she is with her Savior.
Services celebrating Ada Ray’s life will be at 2:00 P. M. Friday, March 2, 2018 at Francis Baptist Church in Palatka with Pastors Jason Sharpe, Buddy Lynch and Harry Varnadoe officiating. Interment will follow at Peniel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
Flowers are gratefully accepted or the family requests memorial donations be sent to the Francis Baptist Church Children’s Ministry, 155 County Road 309C, Palatka, Florida, 32177.
Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at Ada Ray’s Book of Memories page at www.johnsonoverturffunerals.com.
