Myron Wendell Sheppard, 56, of Salt Springs, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. Wendell was born in Palatka and graduated from Palatka High School in 1979 where he had been involved in FFA and was a bull rider. Following high school, he served honorably for 6 years as a ranger in the 2-75th Ranger Battalion in the U.S. Army. Wendell then began working at the Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill in Hawthorne and then with Georgia Pacific in Monticello, Georgia where he worked his way up to Plant Manager. In 2014, he attended Wyo Techs in Daytona where he learned how to work on Motorcycles. For the past 2 years, Wendell had owned and operated Delphenix Cycle Shack in Palatka. He was a member of U.S. Veterans Post #104 and American Legion Post #45 in Palatka as well as the American Legion Riders, H.O.G.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward Sheppard and Jewell Sapp Sheppard Ebling and a brother, Marcus Sheppard.
Wendell is survived by his children, Wendell Heath Sheppard (Marianne Beating-Sheppard) of Davenport, Holley Shea Lowry of Covington, GA, Justin Kyle Sheppard of Conyers, GA, Haley Sommer Gardner (Jeremy) of Atlanta and Kristy Noelle Sheppard of New Orleans, LA, a brother Ed Sheppard,II (Sandy) of Dunn, NC, 3 sisters, Miriam DuBose (Cleon) of Webster, Denise NaKanishi of Hilo, HI and Pam Minnick (George) of St. Augustine and 4 grandchildren.
Services celebrating Wendell’s life will be at 4:00 P.M. Monday, May 21, 2018 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka. Burial will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery with military honors bestowed by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends Monday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of services at 4:00 P.M.
