George Carlton Peacock, 85 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Born in Alma, Georgia on January 31, 1933. He had been a resident in Jacksonville and Palatka, Florida for over 60 years combined. Most recently he was living in Douglas, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army for over 3 years stationed in Germany for 18 months and was also a combat veteran in Korea for 10 months. He received his Combat Infantry Badge and 2 bronze battle stars during his service on the front lines in the Korean War. He was Honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent at Camp Polk, La. in 1954. He retired as a master barber in Jacksonville, Florida after serving the public for over 45 years. He was a faithful husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a devout Christian serving as a deacon at the New Beginning Baptist Fellowship Church in Palatka, Florida.
Survivors include wife, Golden Marie Smith Peacock, 2 children, Randy Peacock (Maha, Kyle, Paige, Brooke) and Ronald Peacock, grandchild: Jeremy David Peacock (Wendy), 2 great grandchildren: Tyler David and Maddison Lee Peacock. He is survived by one sister, Annie Joyce Peacock.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Evergreen Mausoleum in Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida with Rev. Rick McClure and Blane Osteen officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at the Mausoleum from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers to please send donations to the New Beginning Baptist Fellowship Church at 909 S. Moody, Palatka, Florida 32177 in George’s name.
