Edward J. Hovorka, 66, of East Palatka, passed from this life on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Putnam Community Medical Center following an brief illness. He was a native of Cleveland, Ohio and had lived in Putnam County since 1983 coming from Ohio. He had worked as an electrician and was of the Catholic faith. Edward served in the US Marine Corp and was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and enjoyed metal detecting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Hovorka and Edna Gross Hovorka, brother, John Hovorka and sisters, Mariann Freiedrich and Dorothy Bennett.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Susan Hovorka of East Palatka, children, Terri Williams (Keith) of East Palatka and Jeff Miller (April) of Ft. McCoy, brothers, Paul Hovorka (Rae) of Houston, TX and Danny Hovorka (Laurie) of Salem, OH, sisters, Barbara Keusen of Ridgeville, OH, Catherine Hovorka of Medina, OH and Margie Rowe of West Lake, OH, grandchildren, Nicholas and Stephanie Williams and Brayden and Zachary Miller.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka. Military honors will be bestowed by the US Marines at 7:00 p.m.
