Lorna Beth Mitchell, 92, of Palatka, passed from this life on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Solaris Health Care of Palatka following an extended illness. Born in Roosevelt, Utah, she resided in Putnam County since 1965 coming from Jacksonville. Lorna had worked in a number of occupations over the years including as a respite care worker, managed the Hot Springs Resort, worked with a children’s home, worked at Hudson Pulp & Paper Co., as a truck driver and had worked as a cook/biscuit baker at Chicken Charley’s and made the first biscuits served at Walt’s Bar-B-Que in Palatka. She was a member of the First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in Palatka where she had been active in the Women’s Relief Society.
She is survived by a son, Arnold D. Mitchell of Palatka, 2 daughters, Delores Carter and Anita Reed both of Palatka, 21 Grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Palatka with Bishop Michael Curtis presiding. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
