Edward B. “Bud” Wiley, 77, of Palatka, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at his home. A native of Hickman, Kentucky, he resided in Palatka since 1968 coming from Kentucky. After serving honorably in the U.S. Navy for 3 years, he enrolled at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky where he graduated in 1966. Upon receiving his Master’s Degree, Bud moved to Palatka in 1968 and began working at St. Johns River Junior College where he worked for 36 years, retiring in 2004 as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Over the years, Bud volunteered with the American Cancer Society. He was an avid (“Rabid”) University of Kentucky fan and lived for UK basketball season! Bud loved the beach and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was also a self-taught technician and enjoyed the opportunity to repair others’ computers that had locked up or needed “cleaning up”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward B. Wiley, Sr. and Lillie Mae Pearson Wiley, a son, David Lawrence Faulk and a sister, Patricia Shafer.
Bud is survived by his wife of 43 years, Beverly Cate Wiley of Palatka, 2 daughters, Michelle Wiley Green (Terry) of Aiken, SC and Lisa Faulk Reid of Colorado Springs, CO, a son, Glenn Mark Falk of St. Augustine, 2 sisters, Glenda Wiley Cochrum and Denise Wiley Smith, both of Hickman, KY and 4 grandchildren, Ansley Kate Green, Wiley James Green, Glenn Mark Faulk, Jr. and Jessica Hope Reid.
Memorial services celebrating Bud’s life will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with C.L. Overturf, Jr. officiating. The U.S. Navy will also conduct military honors. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at 2:00 P.M.
