Obituary for Floyd Richard Griffor Jr.

Floyd Richard Griffor, Sr., 71, of Interlachen, passed from this life on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at his home following a brief illness. A native of Saginaw, Michigan, he resided in Putnam County since 2000 coming from Saginaw. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill Technical High School in Saginaw. Floyd served honorably for 6 years as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He retired from General Motors following 31 years of service as a machine repairman. Floyd was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Interlachen. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Lou Griffor, Jean K. Johnson, Judith C. Moore, Frederick A. Griffor and Lola Mae Griffor, a step-son, Frankie Zamora and a grandchild, Sidney Griffor.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Janet Griffor of Interlachen, a son, Floyd Richard Griffor, III of Sac City, IA, 2 daughters, Alesha Casteel (Joe) of Elizabethtown, KY, Jenni Snabes (Paul) of Jackson, MI, a step-daughter, Terri Zamora of Ocala, a sister, Susan Smith (Terry) of Interlachen, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Interlachen. American Legion Post #293 will also conduct military honors.
