Obituary for Merlyn McGraw

Merlyn J. McGraw passed away peacefully on November 6, 2018 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was born in Calais, Maine on December 30, 1937 the son of Thomas and Reva McGraw. He graduated from Calais Memorial High School in 1955. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years.

He retired from Guy F. Atkinson Construction Company in 2002 where he served as General Superintendent on many projects from Maine to California. Most notable include the Empire State Plaza at Albany, NY, LaSalle County Nuclear Stations at Mersailles IL, the Twin Towers Federal Office buildings in Oakland CA, the Symphony Towers in San Diego, CA and the Seminole Electric Power Plant in Palatka.

Merlyn was a member of the Palatka Masonic Lodge #34 F&AM and also a member of the Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 Florida.

He is survived by his wife Juanita of 55 years, daughters Cheryl McGraw of Jacksonville Florida and Patti McGraw or Orange Park Florida, several nieces and nephews, many friends and his faithful cat Millie. He was predeceased by his son Dean, his parents, two sisters and a brother.

A memorial service will be held at a later date
