Gwenlyn Smith Lamb, 60, of Palatka, passed from this life on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine following a brief illness. Born in St. Augustine, Gwenlyn was a 1976 graduate of Palatka Central High School and had been a lifelong resident of Palatka. Gwenlyn worked several places over the years including at a local gas station, at Dairy Queen and for 28 years she worked as a store room clerk at Georgia Pacific. She had attended Southside Baptist Church. Gwenlyn enjoyed “painting with a twist”, traveling and collecting lambs. She also cherished time with her grandson.

She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Helen Margaret Gibson, her adopted parents, Herbert and Versie Lamb and her siblings, Linda Bodway Black, Mitchell David Lamb, Versie Louise Lamb and Cynthia Ann Lamb.
Gwenlyn is survived by a daughter, Amber Blaise Nelson, 2 sons, Brandon Lee Smith and Gavin Aiden Skye Adams, all of Palatka, brothers and sisters, Michel Bodway of Jacksonville, Shirley Rautio (Jack) of Ocala, Debra Martin of Jacksonville, Steven Bodway (Donna) of AL, Larry Rhodes of Jacksonville, Jerry Rhodes (Donna) of Jacksonville and C.J. Gibson (Jennifer) of AL, a grandchild, Ashley Marie Katen and a great-grandson, Brayden Matthew Watts.
Memorial services celebrating Gwenlyn’s life will be at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Rev. Pat Huer officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of services at 6:00 P.M.
