Condolence From: Lavinia Jenkins Moody
Condolence: Edith Herrington was always endearingly Sister Herrington to me. I have so many pleasant memories of her during my growing years in Palatka. There have been countless moments during my entire life that images of her smiling and bright countenance has been calming for me. I feel very grateful to have known Sister Herrington and her children. I feel particular close to Bill and Evelyn. Sending much love to her loved ones. Lavinia Jenkins Moody

Condolence From: Robert C. Moody
Condolence: During the 1970’s when I first knew Sister Herrington, she was especially kind to me. I had married Lavinia Jenkins, a home town girl who knew and loved her. Before and after I moved away in the early 80’s Sister Herrington was consistently extra considerate to me and convinced me that I was one of her special friends. That was so meaningful to me and helped me through some challenging times and issues. I am eternally grateful for my relationship with her and her many tender expressions to me.

Condolence From: Rachel Tilton
Condolence: There are so many nice posts about Edith Herrington. I just would like to say what she means to me. I met her the first time when I was a child, going on a hay ride with Misti Buckles Woods at the Tilton Turner Reunion. Not being from Palatka, originally, I loved her story telling and lore of the Tilton family in San Mateo. When later, I married Patrick W Tilton and she became part of my family, I came to love her and listened intently at the stories she told. I will miss this inspiring woman and the legacy she carried. R.I.P. Great Aunt Edith. My condolences and prayers to family- Rachel Selvog Tilton.

Condolence From:
Condolence: My Dad’s only remaining sibling passed away today, Edith Tilton Herrington. My grandmother and grandfather had nine children. Birth order: Woody Sr., Blanche, S.J., Bill, Edith, Virginia, Miller, Jack, B.T. (my Dad). I guess I got my love of family history and genealogy from her. She was born in 1921 and started recording family history way before computers were invented. I have thanked her many times for her dedication to family history and genealogy. I am EXTREMELY grateful for the books she has written about family history. I just hope my kids and grandkids will enjoy reading these books as much as I have. Sometimes when an old person dies, I feel like a book of knowledge is gone. In Aunt Edith’s case, I feel like a whole library of knowledge is gone. I loved talking with her about family and The Lord. She loved The Lord and served him her whole life. I can’t be sad, because she said she has been ready to go for a long time, now.

Condolence: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4
