Betty Marilyn Kirkland Kite, 84, of Bostwick passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. She was a native of Broxton, Georgia and had lived here since 1952 coming from Broxton. Betty was a graduate of Broxton High School in 1952, where she played basketball. In 1951 her team won the state championship. Betty had worked at Hudson Pulp and Paper, Central States, and Glendale Hospital in Palatka and had also worked for Commercial Credit in Jacksonville. Betty enjoyed fishing, flower gardening, and going to the mountains. She was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Kite, son, Michael D. Kirkland, brother, Billy Jo Kirkland and two granddaughters, Kimberley Baggs and Shannon Wilkinson.
She is survived by two sons, Mitchy Wilkinson and Shane Kite, three daughters, Penny Baggs (Danny), Glenda Peebly and Maurica Heisler (Jamie), two brothers, James Kirkland (Linda) and Jerry Kirkland (Beverly), a sister Alvalene Bicknell, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Brother Tommy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Bostwick Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services at 12.
