Ward Jacob Bair, Jr., 85, of Palatka, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at his home following an extended illness. He was a native of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Palatka since 1990 coming from West Palm Beach. He served honorably in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. Ward had worked as a corrections officer with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department from 1990 till his retirement in 2000. Prior to moving to Putnam County, he had worked in West Palm Beach with the carpenters union. Ward was an avid golfer and played with the “Hastings Group” and was a member of Palatka Moose Lodge #184. In his later years he enjoyed watching sporting events on tv.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ward Jacob Bair, Sr. and Ruth Gorley Bair and a step-brother, Jim Richards.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Jean Bair of Palatka, a daughter, Teresa Bair of Laconia, NH, a son, Anthony Bair (Joanne) of White Stone, NY, step-daughters, Janice Tobin (James) of Titusville and Toni Milazzo (Bill) of Tallahassee, a sister, Barbara Shephard of Mesa, AZ, a step-brother, David Richards (Debbie) of Hobart, IN, a step-sister, Joan Ludetke (Charles) of Hobart, IN, 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
