To Cathe, Johnny, Maria, Liam and family,
I just wanted you all to know how much I've been thinking about you since your sweet Dad passed away. He was a remarkable man with a larger- than- life personality, and will be missed by all. I have so many great memories of good times spent in Interlachen with all of you. Thanksgiving, which is my favorite holiday, was the best when we spent it with you at your big old house. My very favorite memory was in 1967 when we spent six weeks in Interlachen, swimming in the lake and standing on the rock pile out in the water, running around on the property and eating our moms' great meals, including the chicken pot pie made with a chicken who's head they chopped off, and who's feathers they plucked. Little three year-old Ginger witnessed the whole thing and kept mentioning, "that 'ole dead chicken" throughout dinner. I could go on and on, but that would take up too much space. I have these great memories thanks to John, who had the vision of moving all of you down to Interlachen, and buying that big old house on all that land, because he thought it would be a great place for you to grow up. He was a great man who never met a stranger, and always welcomed everyone into his home, and made sure they had a good meal before they left. He lived a wonderful life.
Love you all, Melodie
