Elizabeth Irene Bekemeyer, 88, of Palatka, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Community Hospice – Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville following an extended illness. A native of Gideon, Missouri, she resided in Palatka for 64 years coming from Leesburg. Irene was a homemaker and was of the Lutheran faith. As her interests, Irene had been an avid bowler and was a member of the bowling leagues in Palatka.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bertram Dean “Bert” Bekemeyer and 2 sons, Jimmy Dean Bekemeyer and Phil Witeka.
Irene is survived by 2 daughters, Carmen Blocker (Willie) of Palatka and Karen Crede (Doug) of St. Johns, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services celebrating Irene’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Chaplain Jakie Carmicle officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M.
