Margaret (Enzor) Hodge, 70, a lifelong resident of Palatka, lost her fight with cancer on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. She leaves behind a devoted husband of 31 years, Richard, her beloved pets, and the home she helped build with her own two hands, surrounded by the yard she cultivated with trees, flowers and vegetables. Margaret loved the simple things in life: the beauty of flowers, the peacefulness of a spring evening on the porch, walks in the woods and the gentle rain. She thought little of herself, saw the best in others and loved her family unconditionally.
Margaret worked for many years as a caseworker with the Florida Department of Family and Children Services, then for several years as a social worker at Palatka Healthcare Center. She earned a degree in Medical Billing and Coding much later in life. She had a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mildred (Merchant) Enzor.
In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by a large family including three brothers, Samuel “Sammy” Enzor and Stephen “Steve” Enzor both of Palatka and David Enzor (Candy) of Crescent City, three sisters, MaryAnn Counts of Hawthorne, Susan Miller (Sidney) of McLean, VA, and Dorothy “Dottie” Enzor of Palatka, nephews, Johnny Coe Counts of East Palatka, Patrick Enzor of South Carolina, and Sidney Miller, Jr. of California, niece, Evelyn Miller of Virginia and numerous grandnephews, grandnieces and other extended family members. She also leaves behind devoted friends, shocked that such a force of life is gone.
As per her and her husband’s wishes, there will be no services. Memorial donations to honor Margaret’s memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1430 Prudential Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
