Ronald Richard “Ron” Costa, 71, of Palatka, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by his family at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and moved to Putnam County in 2016 from Columbia, South Carolina. Ron served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a military policeman. In 1979, he graduated from the University of Massachusetts with his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Ron served 2 years as a police officer in Billerica, MA. He then became the owner and operator of Pioneer Cabinets in Billerica and in later years he was a cabinet builder and installation contractor for 10 Home Depot stores in Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire. Ron was of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Costa and a sister, Patricia Martineau.
Ron is survived by 2 sons, Ronald R. Costa (Jennifer) of Columbia, SC and Michael D. Costa of Somersworth, NH, 3 daughters, Suzann M. Costa of Palatka, Jennifer A. Adkisson (Joel Allbritton) of East Palatka and Lisa M. Wiggin of Lynn, MA, a sister, Dorothy Keefe (Kevin) of Marlborough, MA, 5 grandchildren, Kennedy Costa, Tyler Costa, Cody Adkisson, Molly Albritton and Joel D. Allbritton and a great-grandson, Forrest James Bratton.
