Clay Lamar Strickland, 53, of Rincon, Georgia and formerly of Palatka, passed from this life surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Hospice of Savannah in Savannah, Georgia following a 5 month battle with Leukemia. Born and raised in Palatka, he had resided in Savannah since the early 2000’s. Clay served honorably in the U.S. Navy and was the owner / operator of The Frame shop. He attended Real Life Christian Fellowship in Port Wentworth, Georgia. Clay also raised and trained Rottweilers. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and camping, the outdoors and spending quality time with his family.
The son of Helen Thomas Mills and the Late S.J. Mills and the Late C.L. “Bud” Strickland, Clay is survived by his wife of 12 years, Patti Strickland of Savannah, 2 children, Allison of Rincon, GA and Collin of Meridian, MS, a sister, Robin Stevens (Craig) of Palatka, a nephew, Jonathan Stevens, a niece, Sara Stevens Hill (Stephan), aunts and uncles, Tinker Green, Edward Thomas (Joan), Charles Thomas (Jackie), Janet Beddia (Tom), Jackie Thomas, Tommy Strickland and Martha Thomas (Bobby) and a great-nephew, Brooks Burchfield.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the home of Helen Mills, 170 SR 20 in Francis.
