George Douglas “Doug” Lane, 78, of Palatka, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Community Hospice -Bailey Center for Caring in St. Augustine. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, he served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. Doug worked at Winn Dixie for 28 years and then with Publix for 22 years, retiring in 2010. Doug enjoyed bowling and listening to Elvis in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his mother Gladys Ward and stepfather, R.P. Ward.
Doug is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sara E. Lane of Palatka, 3 daughters, Cindy Lane of New Port, AK, Belinda Thomas of Palatka and Celesta Rowland (Greg) of East Palatka, 2 brothers, Wesley Ward (Wanda) of Palatka and Gary Ward of Medder, GA , 5 grandchildren, Dale Vinson, David Vinson, Michael Smith, Rickey Smith and Laine “Peanut” Rowland and 2 great-grandchildren, Landon Vinson and Sawyer Vinson.
The family wishes to thank the Community Hospice staff for the care given to Doug both at his home in Palatka and at the Bailey Center for Caring in St. Augustine.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
