Alan Davis Jacob, 80, of Palatka, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center. He was born in West Chester, PA, and raised in the Quaker tradition of Christianity. Alan first attended Goldey-Beacom college in Delaware and then Stetson University in Deland, FL, where he earned a degree in Business Administration and also met and married Suzanne.
The couple first lived on a boat in Daytona Beach then moved to Palatka in 1967 as owners of Boathouse Marina, which they operated together for forty years. Alan earned distinction as a certified master mechanic on Evinrude outboard motors and was a member of the United States Power Squadron. He enjoyed virtually everything about boats but had a secondary passion with autos, as well, and may have listened to every episode of Car Talk (“Click and Clack”).
Alan is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Suzanne Jacob; brothers Robert P. Jacob and John C. Jacob; and his parents, John Dillingham Jacob and Dorothy Davis Jacob.
He is survived by his son, Bryan Jacob (Beth) of Alpharetta, GA and grandchildren, Isabelle, Nicholas and Christopher Jacob.
