Myrt, as she was known by family and friends, was born and raised on her family’s farm in Pleasant Grove, Florida. She moved to Palatka in 1950 and worked at Monty’s Café, where she met David Hodges, her soon to be husband. She became a stay at home mom and proudly raised their four children: Mike (Linda) Hodges, Cathy (Harvey) Campbell, Jeff (Chris) Hodges, Patti (Kevin) Brown.
She began working at E. H. Miller School as a teaching assistant, where she lovingly taught and cared for her students. The years that followed filled her life with great joy as she became the grandmother of fifteen: Scott and Robin Hodges, Christopher, Kelly, and Daniel Campbell, Josh, Jared, Jeffrey, Kayla and Kyndall Hodges, Ashley, Tim, Lane, Amy, and Drew Brown. She continued to be blessed by eighteen great-grandchildren.
Myrt was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church for over 30 years. She loved to travel and visited many different countries in her lifetime. She was much loved and cherished by her children, her family, and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Going onto Heaven before her were her beloved husband of 33 years, David E. Hodges, her precious son, David Michael (Mike) Hodges, eight brothers, one sister and many loved ones. She is survived by one sister, Merleen Page of Plant City, Florida.
Services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Church of the Heights, 3111 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. The family will receive those attending beginning at 11 am; followed by the service at 12 pm. Pastor Jeff Sellers will be officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
